Geoffrey Aronson Biography

Director of Research and Publications at the Foundation for Middle East Peace (FMEP) in Washington, DC
Pro to the question "Is a Two-State Solution (Israel and Palestine) an Acceptable Solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict?"

“The policies outlined here support the road toward a two-state solution by ending occupation and accommodating the strategic security interests of both parties, thus enhancing long-term security for Israel, independence and sovereignty for Palestine, and promoting the prospects for regional security…

The 1949 armistice line is the only basis for a two-state solution that includes East Jerusalem as the recognized capital of Palestine. Land swaps of equal size and value, however, are an acceptable mechanism that enables Palestine to be compensated for Israel’s agreed upon territorial interests in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.”
