“The Sinai Peninsula remained in Israeli hands [from 1967] until, in 1979, a peace agreement was signed between Israel and Egypt — the first with any Arab country — under the terms of which peace and normal diplomatic relations were established between the two states and Israeli forces withdrew in agreed stages [completed in 1982] to the old [1920] international frontier between mandatary Palestine and the Kingdom of Egypt.”
